PREFACE
Welcome to GomdoLight, the most advanced custom firmware for your device.
GomdoLight is designed to be as easy as possible for new users from the ground, but there are certainly some things that you might want to know, to enjoy the most out of it.
This document provides such information, so that when you finish reading this, you will:
- have a better understanding on what to do from now on,
- learn what features are available, and how to use them,
- be aware of the steps you should take when you have problems, and,
- know how to uninstall GomdoLight.

1. What to Do Now?
GomdoLight is just enjoyable, and you have probably configured most of it already during the installation process, but it can be better adjusted to your needs.
1.1. Donate to the Developer
If you are satisfied with GomdoLight, how about making a small donation?
Any amount will be greatly appreciated. (You will need a PayPal account)
1.2. Remove leftover apps
Though GomdoLight has eliminated all unnecessary apps from your system area when it is installed, there might be some leftovers if you updated those apps at least once. However those leftovers can now be completely removed because they are no longer a part of the firmware. Go to Settings → General → Apps, and remove whatever you do not want.
1.3. Root or unroot your device
You might want to root or unroot your device. For example, if you installed GomdoLight via the Sideloader directly on the unrooted stock firmware GomdoLight remains unrooted, and you might want root. Or, if you rooted your device to install a custom recovery environment as a required preliminary step before installing GomdoLight though you didn’t want root, then you might want to unroot your device. Either way, this is now the easiest task in the world with GomdoLight.
– To unroot, use ‘disable.root’ Flag.
– To root, use ‘enable.root’ Flag.

1.4. Install some powerful apps
GomdoLight App Manager offers some very useful apps that might help you in various situations. These apps can be installed without any network connection, and can be freely removed when you no longer need them. Whenever you upgrade GomdoLight to a new version, check the GomdoLight App Manager for new apps and updates. You can also open this manual any time from its menu.
1.5. Further personalize the device with GomdoLight Flags
GomdoLight gives you an unparalleled level of freedom in personalizing your own device. With ‘GomdoLight Flags’, you can do many great things even without root. Please refer to below.
2. GomdoLight Features
GomdoLight has numerous features to further adjust itself to your needs.
2.1. GomdoLight Flags
Inside GomdoLight are very powerful features that you can use by placing specially named files in /sdcard/GomdoLight, then restarting your device. In other words you are ‘signaling’ GomdoLight to perform specific tasks by creating files with specific names. These files are called ‘GomdoLight Flags’. Being able to use the Flags, is often one of the primary reasons why thousands of users choose GomdoLight.
Some of these Flags are listed below.
- enable.root
Roots the device without any external help. - disable.root
Completely unroots the device. You will be without root privilege until you root the device again with ‘enable.root’ Flag. - install.xposed.framework
Installs the Xposed Framework, regardless of whether the device is rooted or not. Requires the ‘Xposed Installer’ app to work properly. - auto.install.xposed.framework
Automatically schedules for installation of the Xposed Framework when the device starts without the Xposed Framework in place. - uninstall.xposed.framework
Uninstalls the Xposed Framework. - disable.adblock
Disables the built-in ad blocker. Useful when some apps or websites do not work properly. - enable.adblock
Enables the built-in ad blocker. - reboot.recovery
Reboots into the recovery environment. - gomdolight.online.upgrade
Checks the latest version of GomdoLight if available. On supported devices, this Flag also downloads the update, and when the download is completed, upgrades GomdoLight upon next reboot. - force.gomdolight.online.upgrade
Downloads and installs the latest version of GomdoLight, regardless of current version. - disable.gomdolight.online.upgrade
Disables the entire GomdoLight Online Upgrade system. GomdoLight does not check, download, or install any upgrades. - clear.carrier.wifi
Removes all predefined SKT/KT/LGU+ Wi-Fi network entries. - disable.3rdparty.camera.sound
Silences most (but maybe not all) 3rd-party camera apps. Stock camera app is not affected, and can be muted without this Flag. - enable.3rdparty.camera.sound
Unmutes 3rd-party camera apps silenced by ‘disable.3rdparty.camera.sound’ Flag. - install.busybox
Installs BusyBox to /system/xbin, and creates symlinks for all its applets. Recommended for advanced users. - install.busybox.nosymlink
Installs BusyBox to /system/xbin, but does not create any symlink. Recommended for advanced users. - uninstall.busybox
Uninstalls BusyBox from /system/xbin, and removes all symlinks for all applets. - disable.security.app
Disables the preloaded antivirus app to further optimize the system. Not supported on every device. - enable.security.app
Enables the preloaded antivirus app to have an extra layer of security. Not supported on every device. - restore.easymod.backup
Restores the system from the EasyMod backup data set, letting you undo the changes made by the EasyMod package recently installed. However, this Flag does not remove any components that are newly added (without replacing the existing components) by the EasyMod package. - clear.easymod.backup
Deletes the EasyMod backup data stored on the system by previously installing an EasyMod package. This action is irreversible.

2.2. Silenced Camera
Now that you have GomdoLight installed on your device, the preloaded (stock) camera app can be silenced. Shutter sound can be silenced by turning it off from the settings menu, or on some devices, simply setting the device to vibration or silence mode. (NOTE: This feature is not available for some devices, e.g. Pantech Vega Iron 2)
2.3. Other Features
GomdoLight has several features that will silently aid you in some situations, or remove clutters and optimize your system. These features work automatically, so you can just focus on what you really want to do, without having to care about them.
3. Troubleshooting
Though it is the most desirable if you find GomdoLight useful and use it without any problems, sometimes unexpected bad things might happen. If you’re unfortunate enough to experience those bad things, don’t worry. Most problems can be solved.
- Restart your device
First, restart your device and wait for two or three minutes. This solves most of the problems. If your problem persists, proceed to the next step. - Search for forum threads
The ‘problem’ might be actually an intended behavior, or might be so common that it is already answered. Search the forum thread before asking a question, and it is quite likely that you will find the answer even before asking. If your problem is not answered in the forum, proceed to the next step. - Uninstall 3rd-party components affecting system behavior
There may be some applications that might affect or alter how your device behaves, including, but not limited to, battery savers, task killers, and tweaks. Uninstall these and see if your problem is solved. If your problem persists, proceed to the next step. - Repair and initialize GomdoLight
Run the GomdoLight Installer, and repair GomdoLight by selecting ‘Upgrade/Repair’ to reinstall the GomdoLight core files. If your problem persists, run the GomdoLight Installer again, and initialize GomdoLight configurations by selecting ‘Troubleshooting’, then ‘Initialize GomdoLight’. This will reconfigure GomdoLight to near-stock state. If your problem is still not solved, proceed to the next step. - Clear damaged or incompatible data
Run the GomdoLight Installer again, and select ‘Troubleshooting’ from the main menu. But this time, select ‘Clear Damaged Data’, and check the ones that you suspect to be damaged. WARNING: SELECTED DATA WILL BE PERMANENTLY LOST. - Completely uninstall GomdoLight (revert to stock) and reinstall from scratch
Completely uninstall GomdoLight, then, reinstall GomdoLight from scratch. * NOTE: If you confirm that the problematic behavior is not observed anymore after reverting to stock firmware, maybe there is a flaw in GomdoLight – report the issue to the forum. However if the problem persists even with the stock firmware, the problem might be in the stock firmware itself (in this case the problem may be unsolvable), or somewhere else, such as corrupted user data. - Perform a factory reset
If the problem still persists, back up everything, make sure you have your backup data stored in a safe place, and perform a factory reset. - Ask a question
If nothing works, now it is the time to ask a question. Post a thread, but please be polite, and try to ask as thoroughly as possible.
* NOTE: Do NOT try to contact the developer via PM, email, or anything ‘private’, unless you’re requested to do so by the developer. Private questions, no matter how important/urgent they are, WILL BE IGNORED.
4. Uninstalling GomdoLight
Though it is generally not a wise decision, but for some reason you might want to uninstall GomdoLight. To uninstall, just flash the stock firmware, then factory reset your device.
